Open Forum on Documentation for Ghanaians Held in
eSikhawini
13th October 2025
The Ghana Community Concerns Group South Africa (GCCG SA)
successfully hosted an open forum on the 13th of October 2025 in eSikhawini,
focusing on the critical issue of documentation for Ghanaians residing in South
Africa. The event brought together members of the Ghanaian community, legal
experts, and immigration consultants to address challenges and provide guidance
on proper documentation.
During the forum, participants were informed about the
legal requirements for obtaining valid South African identification documents,
permits, and visas. Emphasis was placed on the importance of being documented,
not only for legal compliance but also for access to essential services,
employment, and protection under South African law. Practical advice on the
application process, necessary documentation, and compliance with the
Immigration Act was provided, ensuring that community members are better
equipped to navigate the system.
The forum also served as a platform for sharing
experiences and fostering community solidarity, with attendees encouraged to
support one another in obtaining and maintaining their documentation. GCCG SA
reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for the welfare of Ghanaians in South
Africa and pledged continued support through information sessions and legal
guidance.
The event concluded with a call for all Ghanaians in the region to prioritize their documentation and remain informed of their rights and responsibilities under South African law.
